We are trying out a new software to try and cut down on the constant spamming of our board. We have implemented a few anti spamming technologies and hope this will help. One of the technologies is a question and answer problem that will be asked when registering and posting. These questions are to verify that you are a real person and not a bot. Some of the questions are purposly written funny so that they will not be easy to google the answers ( believe it or not there are bots that can do that
) Another safeguard we are using is setting up different permissions depending on if you are a guest (not registered/logged in), a new member, or a trusted member. Below is a list of some of those permissions.
Anyone including guests can read messages in this forum
To post messages you need to register. Once you register, an email will be sent with a verification link (to make sure you are a real person)
Once you have verified you are real, you will be able to post, but your posts will need to be approved for a little while until we are comfortable you are not an evil spammer.
Once we are sure you are real and not a spammer you will be moved to a trusted user group and will be able to post, reply, create polls, have an avatar, and a signature.
Once this board is up and running for awhile (and not constantly hit by spammers) we may open up other features to our users such as email to users, posting of images and files, ability to add links, etc...
Remember the general internet rules when using this board:
* Don't reveal personal information.
* Have a strong password and do not share it (the word 'password' is not a strong password
).* Watch your language, there are young field trialers reading.
* Be courteous and respectful.
* Do not post your message in ALL CAPS, bold, large, or bright text or use excessive punctuation!!!!!
