LOCATION
Valhalla Sporting Club (go to the top of this links page to get approximate directions to the grounds from your house)
Byers, Colorado
These grounds are located approximately 60 miles east of Denver along the Bijou Creek. The terrain is typical of Colorado's eastern plains with gently rolling hills. The Bijou does not typically run with surface water, but does flow after rain storms. The area along the creek has substantial cover of grasses, thickets and cottonwood trees. The average high temperature in October is 68F and the average low is 34F. For comparison, September has averages of 79F and 45F. Average precipitation in October is a little over 3 inches which can be in either the liquid or frozen state.
Horses will be allowed to be picketed and there is water on site. It is requested that only locally purchased hay be fed during your stay on the grounds. Hay will be made available for purchase by the Colorado Pointer Club.
Directions (map to the grounds)
From I70 east of Denver take exit 316 (Hwy 36/Byers). Go east on Highway 36 2.5 miles to Calhoun Byers Rd; turn north (left) and go 8 miles (3.5 paved) to E. 88th Ave; turn east (right) and proceed 2 miles to Behrens Rd.; turn right on Behrens Rd and go 1/2 mile. The gate to the grounds is on the left side of the road.
